Art Education Australia Research Symposium 2011: A joint VADEA/AEA Research Forum

University of New South Wales, Kensington, Thursday 16th June 2011.

Call for Abstracts

The Visual Arts and Design Educators Association, NSW (VADEA) invites art education researchers across Australia to present papers at this year’s Research Symposium. This Symposium forms part of the VADEA Annual Conference with the theme for 2011 being: Critical Junctures: Tensions, Extensions, and Confluences in Visual Arts & Design Education.

The Research Symposium is a VADEA/AEA collaboration designed to promote research initiatives in Visual Arts Education. This Research Symposium is the third in the series, with the inaugural symposium held at Monash University in 2009. The Symposium will be held on Thursday 16 June - Day 1 of the 2011 VADEA Annual Conference.

Consistent with the conference theme, art education researchers are encouraged to consider how visual arts and design educators are afforded opportunities and challenges in negotiating interconnectedness, interdependency and the dilemmas of local and the global in relation to contemporary art, design, media and education. Others papers with contemporary relevance may also be presented.

Registration

We ask that researchers involved in the Research Symposium register for DAY 1 of the VADEA conference (16 June). You are also invited to register for the full conference program over the following two days (17 & 18 June). Days 2 and 3 feature keynotes by artists, curators and advocates of Visual Arts, that celebrate the expanding horizons of the visual arts, and art and design education in the context of an ever-changing globalised world.

Registration Forms are available at: www.VADEA.org.au
