 Drawing South
Follow the journey on the web of artist Nicholas Hutcheson, through his drawings and notes, as he travels aboard the ship the Aurora Australis to the Antarctic as part of the Australian Governments Antarctic arts fellowship. This is an invaluable learning experience for students to watch the process and development of the artists drawings and to communicate with the artist as he responds visually to this eight week journey.
Apart from drawing like a madman between bouts of seasickness, I will be putting some of the work I make and interviews with people on the boat, up on a specially built website. Some schools in Victoria will be following my journey, sending me questions and making artwork of their own back in the classroom.

A bit about the Site by the artist
Each week, new content will be uploaded, with the first actual week onboard ship, to be put online around about the 8th of Feb. Gives me a bit of time to find my way around what will be home for the next 8 weeks.
Once you are into the site proper, the first page you will come to is the overview of the week. This is a short bit of writing about the week, a map showing where I am, when you press CLICK TO VIEW button it takes you the weeks content which is broken up into:

What people do interview Each week I will ask a different person on board 5 questions. I should get a good cross section, hopefully from the captain through to the plumbers.
