The three-day conference will be held on 16,17,18 June 2011 at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Below is a 'Call for Papers' for the Art Education Australia Research Symposium 2011: A joint VADEA/AEA Research Forum. This will be held on Thursday 16 June 2011 (Day 1 of the VADEA Conference). The conference addresses issues in contemporary Visual Arts and Design Education with a rich program of presentations from contemporary artists, designers and archictects informing workshops on artmaking art criticism and art hsitorical practices for the classroom. Information is attached, with registration and program updates available at: www.VADEA.org.au VADEA warmly welcomes colleagues from interstate Visual Arts professional associations. During the conference we will be addressing some of the challenges presented in ACARA's ongoing work on the Shape Paper for the Arts. We anticipate the release of the ACARA consultation report and Shape Paper for the Arts in advance of the conference which will be viewed in light of the consultation reports from a range of states. With the support of AEA and other associations we have presented some strong proposals for an alternate approach to a national curriculum for Visual Arts. We invite you to become involved in further investigating these proposals. It is evermore important that the collective voice of art and design educators across the nation be heard in advocating for a curriculum that is dynamic, futures-looking and of quality. We look forward to your participation.
