Our home explores the physical and psychological concept of the house in our lives. The house can be a refuge but also a space which nurtures relationships, provides security and creates a sense of place. In many ways the house can be described as the great stabilizer of community. The house is also both a private and public space whose boundaries can often become blurred, particularly when work intrudes on what was once a domestic space. The exhibition’s themes encompass identity, personal/public space, home life, security and family.  It is a haven where one can enjoy the privacy of self or the company of other people. Our home will also explore the house as a symbol of government stability juxtaposed with individual identity.

Presented in partnership with Art Education Australia (AEA) as part of the Academy Gallery School Engagement Program.
